The short version
- You do not need an account, and there are no forms that collect your details.
- No cookies are set for readers. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
- Like every website, the server briefly logs technical data such as your IP address to keep the site running and secure.
- Fonts and photos are served from this site, so reading a page does not send your data to Google Fonts, Wikimedia or anyone else.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Pasindu Senavirathna, Sri Lanka. Email: tbpsenavirathna@gmail.com. You can contact me about anything in this policy.
When you visit
The site is hosted by Hostinger International Ltd. on servers in the Netherlands, with backups stored in Lithuania (both in the EU). When you open a page, the server records technical data: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the referring page and your browser and device type. This is needed to deliver the page, to keep the site secure and to stop abuse. Hostinger processes this data on my behalf under its data processing terms and deletes logs automatically after a short period. I do not use them to identify or profile readers.
Legal basis: legitimate interests in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR and UK GDPR), and the corresponding legitimate-interest ground under Sri Lanka’s Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022.
If someone repeatedly enters a wrong password on the login page, a scrambled (hashed) form of their IP address is stored for up to 45 minutes to block password guessing, then deleted automatically.
Cookies
Readers get no cookies from this site.
WordPress sets strictly necessary cookies (wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_*, wordpress_test_cookie, wp-settings-*) only for the site owner when logged in to the dashboard.
What this site does not do
- No analytics or visitor statistics tools.
- No social media plugins or tracking pixels. Any share buttons are ordinary links: nothing is sent to X, WhatsApp, Reddit or Facebook unless you click one.
- No fonts or images loaded from third parties.
- No selling or sharing of personal data.
How reports are made
Reports are written automatically after each session. The server fetches public race data (Jolpica-F1, OpenF1, Wikidata and Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and MET Norway) and sends race facts to Google’s Gemini service to draft the text (if Gemini is unavailable, to a backup AI model through OpenRouter). No reader data is ever sent to these services. The site also sends short technical status notes about itself (for example "a report is late") to AI services (Groq, OpenRouter) to write maintenance summaries for the site owner; these contain no reader data. When a report is published or updated, only its web address is sent to search engines (IndexNow) so they can find it quickly.
Emailing me
If you email me, I use your address and message only to reply, and keep them only as long as needed for that. My email is provided by Google (Gmail).
Data outside your country
The website and its logs are stored in the EU. I manage the site from Sri Lanka, so some of this data may be accessed from there. Sri Lanka does not have an EU “adequacy decision”. Access is limited to what is needed to run the site and is protected by encrypted connections and two-factor login.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask me to tell you what data I hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive a copy of it. Where something is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email tbpsenavirathna@gmail.com and I will reply within one month. Because the site does not keep accounts, server log data usually cannot be linked to you.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in Sri Lanka, the Data Protection Authority of Sri Lanka; in the EU, the authority in your country (list); in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Children
This site is for a general audience and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If the site starts doing something new with data, such as showing ads, this page is updated first and the date at the top changes.
